A heavy acrylic or nylon woven fabric attached to a rubber or burlap-like backing. It is attached to the floor either by an adhesive, or by nailing tack strips along the perimeter of the room. Where standard wall-to-wall carpet weighs between 26 and 28 oz per square foot, custom carpet is much plusher, weighing approximately 35 oz or more per square foot. Custom carpeting may also incorporate more than one carpet color and type in the room for boarders and special patterns. These pieces are all patched together to form one wall-to-wall carpet. Assumes custom patterns and finishes as well as an intricate floor plan typical of high value homes.
